Deep Dive

n the world of cold email marketing, creating effective subsequence campaigns is crucial for turning interested prospects into booked calls. In this guide, we'll dive into the specifics of setting up automated subsequences in Smart Lead, ensuring you follow up efficiently and maintain engagement with your leads.

Setting Up Your Subsequence

First, navigate to the "Subsequence" tab in Smart Lead and click "Add Subsequence." Begin by setting up a sequence for when a lead is marked as interested. If you have the capacity to manage inboxes manually, a personal response is best. However, if time is tight or you lack an inbox manager, automate this through Smart Lead’s AI categorization. Set the delay to zero days for instant follow-up, although actual trigger time may vary based on the email queue.

Crafting the Follow-Up Email

For the follow-up, leave the subject line blank to keep the conversation in the same thread. Since the lead has already shown interest, your email will bypass initial spam filters, allowing you to include links, images, and track open rates. Here’s a template for the follow-up:

"Hi [First Name],

Here's the [video/lead magnet/etc.] I promised!

Notice at the [specific time mark], I discuss [specific benefit or pain point].

If you find this valuable, let's schedule a call to discuss further. Let me know if you're available for a chat.

Best regards, [Your Name] [Your Title] [Your Company]"

Subsequent Follow-Ups

Follow up again the next day if there’s no response. Prompt them to watch the video or review the lead magnet:

"Hi [First Name],

Did you get a chance to watch the video I sent you? Could we discuss this further in a call tomorrow? If that doesn't fit your schedule, you can book a call through this link.

Best regards, [Your Name]"

Continue with another follow-up the following day:

"Hi [First Name],

Around the [specific time mark], I discuss [specific benefit or pain point]. Would a short call to dive deeper into this be worth your time? I'm available [suggest times]. Alternatively, you can schedule here.

Best regards, [Your Name]"

If there’s still no response, send a simple “First Name?” email two days later. This acts as a pattern interrupt and often garners attention:

"First Name?"

Utilizing Case Studies

After two more days, send a case study to demonstrate the tangible benefits of your service:

"Hi [First Name],

We recently helped [Company] achieve [result]. Would you be interested in a similar result based on the video I sent you?

Best regards, [Your Name]"

Adding a Pattern Interrupt

Finally, use an emoji as a pattern interrupt in your last follow-up. This unusual element can grab attention and encourage a response:

"👀"

Campaign Scheduling

For campaign scheduling, choose EST as your time zone. Set emails to trigger at any time since interested leads may reply at odd hours. Ignore mailbox sending limits for subsequences to ensure follow-ups are sent regardless of daily limits.

Final Settings

In your Smart Lead settings, track email opens and clicks since you’ve already bypassed initial spam filters. Avoid using AI categorization for responses as it can lead to unintended triggers.

Conclusion

Creating effective subsequences in Smart Lead involves strategic timing, personalized messaging, and consistent follow-ups. By following these steps, you can maximize your chances of converting interested leads into booked calls. Remember, the key is persistence and providing value at every step. Happy emailing!
