Deep Dive

Launching a new business is a challenge, but with the right strategies and tools, it’s possible to achieve rapid success. Here’s how I went from zero to eight paying clients in less than 30 days with my cold email lead generation agency, Conquered Leads.

Who Am I?

I’m Mato Banzo, based in Australia, and over the past 18 months, I’ve run two marketing agencies: one for real estate agents using Facebook ads, and another for B2B companies using cold email. Starting these businesses from scratch taught me invaluable lessons that I’m sharing in this case study.

Results

Within just five days of launching Conquered Leads, I booked 42 calls with a 73.8% show rate and a 25.8% close rate, resulting in eight paying clients. These results were achieved while I continued running my real estate lead generation agency, demonstrating the effectiveness of my approach.

The Four Main Problems in Business

  1. Not Enough Leads: Many businesses struggle with generating leads, which leads to desperation, lower prices, and settling for low-quality hires. Having a steady flow of leads is crucial for maintaining confidence and attracting high-quality clients and employees.

  2. Reliance on Referrals: While referrals are valuable, they max out and are beyond your control. To grow consistently, you need to implement cold traffic acquisition systems.

  3. High Competition: In saturated markets, differentiating yourself is vital. Business owners are wary of being burned by bad agencies, so you must go above and beyond to stand out.

  4. Difficulty Reaching Ideal Clients: Various barriers, such as ad blockers or gatekeepers, can prevent you from reaching your target audience. Effective cold email strategies can help overcome these obstacles.

Building the Right Infrastructure

  1. Domains and Email Accounts: I used existing domains and email accounts from my previous agency to save time. It’s important to warm up new email accounts for at least two weeks before using them for cold email campaigns.

  2. DNS Records: Ensuring proper setup of SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records is crucial for email deliverability.

  3. Email Warm-Up: My email accounts had been warming up for four months, achieving 100% reputation, which allowed me to launch immediately.

  4. Sending Tool: Using Smart Lead, I seamlessly transitioned to my new agency by plugging in a new lead list and setting up new campaigns.

  5. CRM: Go High Level was my all-in-one platform, including email and SMS management, pipelines, websites, automation, and calendars. This streamlined my operations and allowed for efficient client management.

Creating a No-Brainer Offer

Without social proof initially, I adopted a performance-based offer: “We will help you book 5 to 10 qualified sales calls every month on a pay-after-show basis.” This risk reversal approach attracted clients quickly. I also included a small monthly retainer to cover infrastructure costs but did not charge a setup fee, differentiating me from competitors.

Crafting Compelling Scripts and Following Up

I developed a simple yet effective cold email script framework. The key components were a personalized opening, a compelling offer, and a clear call to action. Using spin tax, I ensured each email appeared unique, enhancing deliverability. My follow-up sequence included variations to keep the prospect engaged and increase the likelihood of booking a call.

Leveraging Warm Calling

Responding to email replies promptly with a warm call helped me convert leads more effectively. This personal touch often led to immediate bookings and demonstrated my commitment to potential clients.

Sales Process

  1. Pre-Call Flow: I sent email and SMS reminders to ensure prospects were prepared and would show up for the call.

  2. Sales Call Framework: My calls followed a structured approach: building rapport, understanding the client's current situation and goals, addressing the cost of inaction, and presenting my pitch. Objection handling was crucial for closing the deal.

Final Thoughts

Achieving these results wasn't easy, and it required prior experience and a solid setup. While your setup might take longer, the strategies I employed can still be applied to achieve success. Remember, it's essential to set realistic expectations and understand that results may vary based on your experience and resources.

By implementing these strategies, you can build a robust cold email system that drives leads, books calls, and converts prospects into paying clients. Happy emailing!
